The Bald Bond

Yesterday Sydney made the decision to finally shave her head.  She said it was too hard to see it come out every time she touched her head.  She had sweet "Aunt" Mollie come over and do that for her.  Mollie called me after, in tears, saying that was the VERY HARDEST thing she has ever done!  She even kind of hated being a hairdresser at that moment.

Afterwards, Syd got the opportunity to take the clippers to her dads hair!  He is such a wonderful support to her and has said many times he would do "anything" for her!  This is just one of those small things he can do!

When cousin Dylan Weeks (Stacie's son) found out Syd was sick, the first thing he said was that he was going to shave his head for her!  Any of you that know Dylan, know that this is huge for him.  He is one who always has to look, smell and dress "perfect."  Kind of vain :) The first day she even had chemo, he wanted to shave it!  I told him we could wait a few weeks til Syd lost hers. He said, "Well the day she loses it is the day I am shaving!"  His cousin Landan Knowles heard him talking and said, "I'm doing it too!"  Last week Dylan told Sydney this and asked her if she would be the one to shave his head.  She agreed.  So the big event was last night.  There was so much emotion and such a sweet spirit in that home last night.  Something I will truly never forget!  As a mom, I couldn't have been more proud of my son!  He is truly an example of Christ-Like love to me!

 First Dylan...
 Then Landan!

 Syd and her Dad!
 Don't forget Bald "Uncle" Rex...

Bald IS Beautiful---but ESPECIALLY Sydney!  You are my hero!

Aunt San took pictures of the Mecham kids tonight!

T-Shirt Design

We heard from many people that the Team Sydney design is a little too girly, so we now have two options. The T-shirts are still unisex T-shirts, but the boy option will be without the flowers and the girl option will be with the flowers. We also have sizes for babies and children from 3 months to adult. Onesies will be white with teal writing. Put your order in here: http://team-sydney.blogspot.com/p/team-sydney-swag.html

Syd meets her new 2nd Cousin

After a rough Friday night and Saturday morning, Syd turned a corner and felt much better. She even felt well enough for a quick outing to her cousin Kylee's house to meet her new 2nd cousin.

Sydney cuddling with Brody.
We were all so happy to see this beautiful, huge smile!
Time to compare...Brody at 3 days old and Ava at 6 1/2 weeks old.
Big boys and little girls, just like her cousin Adam and Syd when they were babies.
Sweet Ava is blessed to have such a great big sister.
She even has her big beautiful eyes and cute nose.

WELCOME HOME SYDNEY

Sydney was able to return home last night with her mom and dad!  We are all so excited to have them back home!  They were especially ready to sleep in their own beds...and Sydney was excited to NOT have to be woke up by nurses all night long!  She tolerated the chemo great!  She and her parents and siblings are AMAZINGLY strong!

She was welcomed home to a yard full of balloons and posters, thanks to her Achievement Day leaders and girls!  This was a wonderful  sight for her to see!

She also had another big surprise!  Just before she got sick and went into the hospital, Sydney and Justin had gone to choose paint to redo Syd's room.  Justin was also working on refinishing some new furniture for her.  We thought it would be very neat for her to be able to come home to her room all redone!  She LOVED her room!  Thanks to all who helped make this a VERY special moment for her.
